Here are tips to help you get your HVAC system ready for spring.
We’re in the middle of February, and that means there is still a little bit of winter left before the weather gets warmer. With that said, it won’t be too long before spring arrives, and the warmer temperatures will incentivize you to use your air conditioner again. Rather than wait until spring to prepare your HVAC system, it’s good to take a proactive approach so that you’re already prepared when the spring season arrives. Here are tips to help you get your HVAC system ready for spring.
Get Your Air Filters Cleaned or Replaced
Air filters are used to trap dirt and debris so that your air can remain clean. They are directly responsible for improving indoor air quality so that you can breathe happily. Throughout winter, your air filters could end up getting clogged. This means your HVAC system will need to work harder to maintain good air quality.
At the same time, your HVAC system will also have a harder time regulating the temperature of your house. That’s why you want to either clean your air filters, or get them replaced, before you start making use of them in the spring.
Check On, and Seal, Your Ductwork
When you have leaky ductwork, it can make your HVAC system far less efficient. That’s why you should check on your ductwork periodically and see if it has any indicators of wear and tear, such as cracking. Addressing problems like these will stop air from leaking out of your unit, meaning that air can actually reach the parts of your building that it needs to reach.
Get Your HVAC Coils Cleaned
Condenser coils get exposed to a lot of dust and debris during winter. When these coils are dirty, they can make the heat exchange process more strenuous. This means your HVAC system will use more energy to regulate the temperature of the building. By cleaning these coils, energy efficiency will remain high.
