More Information about the Impact of Residential HVAC Systems on Your Home

At some point, you will need to upgrade your home’s HVAC system.

At some point, you will need to upgrade your home’s HVAC system. Inspect the air ducts, the windows, the roof, the central air system, along with all doors and weatherstripping. Your home is going to be your shelter from the unpredictable weather this fall and winter, so there is no reason why you can’t be comfortable in your own castle

The Air Ducts and Other Ductwork

Getting rid of an older HVAC system isn’t as simple as you might assume. The ductwork needs to be updated as well. Even though the air ducts are rated to last around 25 years, once they hit 15 years old, they will begin to deteriorate even faster. If you want to sell your home within the next few months, then it’s definitely worth investing in new ductwork.

The Windows

Consider the windows to be the eyes of your home. However, old windows could be subject to air leaks that will let the warm air out and cold air in; this might be pleasant in the summer, but not so much in the winter. Energy-efficient windows will help you save money on your utility bills – big time!

The Roof

The roof serves as the hat on your house. Did you know that it is also a source of insulation? Modernized shingles do a much better job than old shingles when it comes to protecting your home’s residential HVAC system and help you feel more comfortable while you are inside.

The Central Air

Central is one of the most eye-catching features of any home. In fact, central air conditioning and heating are taken for granted as a typical feature and thus are not thought of as amenities you’ll see a noticeable bump in your home’s overall resale value, so if that intrigues you, then this factor could be a deal-maker.

The Doors and Weatherstripping

You literally cannot afford to overlook the doors and the weatherstripping. Believe it or not, older doors can be replaced with newer, more energy-efficient models. Likewise, you can get rid of worn-out weatherstripping. Depending on how much degradation is has sustained, you might be able to repair it; however, it is much more likely that you’ll need some new layers put in before the truly colder weather comes along.
