Find Out Why Your AC Unit is Leaking

Your AC unit shouldn’t be leaking. It doesn’t matter how old it is, that’s simply unacceptable.

Your AC unit shouldn’t be leaking. It doesn’t matter how old it is, that’s simply unacceptable, What you may not realize though, is where the source of the leak is coming from. Even if you don’t know how to fix it on your own, that’s okay. You have experts ready and waiting to help you out.

Incorrect Installation

One typical reason for a leaky AC unit is that it simply wasn’t installed the way it should have been. Take the time to find an installation partner who will follow all the steps and won’t rush through it simply to get paid. You want them to take the time that they need to get the job done right. Getting credentials and references is one easy way to find out if the contractor you’re working with is someone who you can rely on.

Too Cold

As the weather cools down, you’ll start using your furnace more and more. Another common reason for an AC leak is that it is simply too cold outside. This won’t be a true problem until later in the fall and when winter hits, but you can prepare yourself for just such a situation. Too much standing water around the sides of the unit can contribute to excessive leakage.

The Coils Froze

Condensation is a natural byproduct of your AC unit running. The problem is, this can lead to the evaporator coils freezing. When the drainage pan overflows, it can lead to the formation of ice if it is too cold outside. Even though fall hasn’t arrived yet, now is the time to start thinking ahead.

Clogs

Dealing with a clog can be a headache for any home or business owner. If the water can’t drain, then it’s just stuck there. In warmer weather, this gives mosquitoes a place to breed. In colder weather, the drain will be blocked and that will lead to other problems that you can’t predict.
